[Hot Toys - Jan'09] Joker

Why so serious?

My no. 42 12-inch. This is the perfect 2-in-1 version Joker, (suit from Original version and headsculp from Bank Robber version) and he is one of my all time favourite!!!!

After seeing the DX Version, to be honest, I'm not tempted at all. Well maybe a just little bit because of the Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS). I will not buy another same Joker just because of PERS. I would rather use the moolah to buy some other figures. 2 Jokers is more than enough for me. Kekekekek...

I have to set a policy here...no more than 2 versions of a same character in my collection...

I love the whole outfit. Is very fitting and it doesn't look bulky even wearing 3 layers of clothes. No doubt there are slight improvement from DX version as well. But I still I can live without it.

Moroni calls him a "two-bit whackjob, wears cheap purple suit and makeup"...

In the movie, he has 2 versions of story on how he got the scars....;)

You wanna know how I got these scars? My father was a drinker and a fiend. And one night, he goes off crazier than usual. Mommy gets the kitchen knife to defend herself. He doesn’t like that, not one bit. So me watching, he takes the knife to her, laughing while he does it. He turn to me and he says: “Why so serious?” He comes at me with the knife and says: “Why so serious?” He sticks the blade in my mouth and says: “Let’s put a smile on that face…”

You look nervous. Is it the scars? You wanna know how I got them? So I had a wife. She was beautiful, like you, who tells me I worry too much, who tells me I ought to smile more, who gambles and gets in deep with the sharks. One day, they carve her face and we have no money for surgeries. She can’t take it. I just want to see her smile again. I just want her to know that I don’t care about the scars. So I stick a razor in my mouth and do this to myself. And you know what? She can’t stand the sight of me. She leaves. Now I see the funny side, now I’m always smiling..

This is the original headsculp.... after seeing the re-sculpted version, the original headsculp is totally unacceptable!!!

My no. 43 12-inch. This is the trigger point where I digged deeply into Hot Toys Batman Series. This figure comes with two headsculps, one for wearing the "bozo" clown mask (during the bank-job) and the other one is a re-sculped to improve the likeness of Heath Ledger as the Joker.

To make things more attractive, Hot Toys put in lots of accessories for this figure such as Glock 18 pistol (with removable clip), MK760 (with removable clip), fragmentation grenades, smoke grenades, clown mask, additional headsculp and other basics.

To be honest, I bought this figure just because of the new re-sculped Joker headsculp which totally blew me away!!!

A preview of the re-sculped headsculp. This headsculp really capture the devilish stare of the Joker. Absolutely brilliant!! Another masterpiece from Yulli. I will cover more when I review the other Joker (original costume).

[Hot Toys - Jan'09] Batman (The Dark Knight Costume)

My no. 44 12-inch. Within the same month, I bought this figure (from Hong Kong), the Bat-Pod and both Joker versions (Normal version and Bank Robber Version). I can't resist this Batman series from Hot Toys no more especially after seeing the prototype of Bank Robber Joker.

Hot Toys is going to release DX version of Joker (Police Officer Version) and Batman. I don't think I will be getting the DX Joker unless it sweep me of the feet when I see the real thing. I'm not interested in the police costume and I didn't see much improvement from the previous versions except the Parallel Eyeball Rolling System (PERS). As for the DX Batman, yupe, I gave in and I have preordered it. How can I not buy him with so many new features and accessories added to this figure such as PERS, Solar Vision (light-up eyes), interchangable face expression, transformable sticky bomb gun, back pack and, most importantly, a newly sculpted and developed Batman complex suit!!! Yay baby...

Not much complaint for this figure except the little beer tummy (a little too fat to my liking) and the limited neck articulation (can't really bend downwards). I saw a lot of people on the modifying it and I hope the new DX version will solve this problem.

Again, this figure comes with additional headsculp of Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne. Err..probably 60% likeness of Christian Bale but much better than the one comes from the previous Batman, the Original Costume version. I bought a men suit and a TrueType body to have him standing side-by-side with Batman for display. That is what everyone has been doing anyway...

I'm still contemplating whether to get Harvey Dent (Two Face) to complete the villain characters for this series. Well..I can always wait for the price to drop further then decide. Not a die-die-must-get figure to me. ;)

I was wondering...any chance Hot Toys will produce Jim Gorden and Fox???...
